NORIKO ITO Japan 1976
In relation to the three orders as propounded by Lacan, the symbolic masculine order is in decline, while the imaginary feminine order continues to spread and diffuse. Negri's notion of the multitude also incorporates a plurality and diversity of characters and personalities, shaking up the established orders of masculine logic = hyper-capitalism = globalism. Artists like Noriko Ito are a rare breed, invoking Kristeva's notion of abjection, post-colonialist feminism and "kimo-kawaii" to attack paternalistic modes of mimesis. Taisuke Morishita
